Early / lead developer during formative development stage

This case study covers my contribution during the project's formative development stage only. Work in the later and current public version was done afterwards and is not attributed here.
01Context
An MMORPG targeting PC and PlayStation, worked on while its foundations were being established.
I contributed early and later led during the formative stage, across gameplay, combat, AI, UI and multiplayer: the foundational systems a project of this size needs before it can grow.

04Building the Foundations
Formative-stage work on an MMORPG is about establishing what later features are built on. Gameplay, combat and AI were developed alongside the multiplayer and foundational systems, because in this genre those are not separable concerns: how combat resolves is a networking decision as much as a design one.
The project's technology moved across Unity and then Unreal Engine over its lifetime. My contribution belongs to the earlier stage of that history.
05Outcome
The project continued past my involvement and has a public presence.
What is presented here is the formative-stage engineering contribution. Subsequent production and the current live implementation are the work of the team that continued it.
